Politifact Selects Romney's False Jeep Ad as "Lie of the Year"

Politifact has revealed their "Lie of the Year" for 2012. Not surprisingly, they selected Mitt Romney's Jeep ad that he ran in Ohio in the closing weeks of the 2012 Presidential campaign. Romney made the false claim that Jeep was planning to move U.S. JOBS to China during a speech in Defiance, Ohio on October 25th. His campaign then went on to produce a series of radio and television ads that doubled-down on the falsehood despite an outcry from numerous media outlets and fact-checking organizations. Most political observers concluded that the ad backfired badly and some believe it may may been responsible for his electoral loss in the state of the Ohio.
